HughesNet Bundles: Internet, TV, Voice, & Home Phone

HughesNet doesn’t offer discounts when bundling its products. Nor do they provide television services. You must order a TV plan from a separate provider. Whereas, they allow you to add home or business voice services to your internet plan.

Before getting a provider, check the bundles they offer. I compiled HughesNet bundles to help us determine whether they provide much value.

Throughout this guide, I’ll cover the following points:

Let’s get going. We have much to cover.

* Does not include taxes and other fees. These will vary by region. Actual internet speed will vary by connectivity method (e.g., Wi-Fi vs. Ethernet) among other factors.

HughesNet only offers voice over internet protocol (VoIP) calling services and satellite internet. Bundling these services won’t provide any discounts. New customers will receive discounted rates on the internet products for 6 months.

New Voice customers will get $20 off the base plan for 3 months.

DirecTV and DISH Network don’t have official bundles with HughesNet. You’ll need to get these services separately. If you live in a rural area, these providers may prove as your best options for traditional television.

Explore reviews we’ve created for each provider to determine whether they’re viable for your household:

I don’t recommend using TV live streaming services like YouTube TV with HughesNet. Unless you watch 22 hours or fewer a month of 480p SD videos. Because streaming videos will burn through your allotted data quickly.

Also, consider other television providers. We’ve compared many popular providers in separate guides. Check them out.

HughesNet doesn’t offer business television plans. Plus, TV packages for companies aren’t ideal for pairing with satellite internet. However, the voice over internet protocol (VoIP) can prove helpful if your team doesn’t get the best cellular reception.

It’ll help people in remote job sites reach clients and offices by making calls online. I’ll talk more about HughesNet voice products in a bit.

Are you considering running a cloud-based security camera? You may need a static IP address. It’ll ensure your camera always finds your IP address.

Thus, providing more reliable connectivity.

The static IP address add-on costs $10 per address. I recommend 1 due to the low upload speeds. Many cloud-based security cameras require 3.0–4.0 Mbps upload speeds. And all HughesNet plans offer 3.0 Mbps upload speed.

All the above deals are available until January 3rd, 2023.

HughesNet will waive your installation fee whether you’re a business or home customer. They don’t specify the duration of this freebie.

If you’re a residential customer and participate in certain government programs, HughesNet participates in the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). Customers can use a $30 or $75 recurring credit for their internet plans.

The $75 credit is available for those living in qualifying Tribal Lands. The $30 is available for everyone else.

How do you qualify for the ACP?

By participating in one of these programs [1]:

* Does not include taxes and other fees. These will vary by region. Actual internet speed will vary by connectivity method (e.g., Wi-Fi vs. Ethernet) among other factors.

Homes will want HughesNet satellite internet if you’re looking for an affordable(ish) satellite internet provider with low internet speeds. You’ll need to commit, though.

Otherwise, you’re due for ridiculously high cancellation fees (up to $400). And unlike Starlink, HughesNet doesn’t offer a trial period. And you must commit to a 2-year contract.

The commitment applies to their business and residential internet plans.

Other tidbits to know about their broadband internet plans include:

  • No hard data cap
  • * $15 a month to rent their network gateway
  • After using the data cap, your speeds will reduce to 1.0–3.0 Mbps
  • Fusion plans have less latency: though they don’t show numbers
  • No RV internet plans
  • Top up data: $3.00 per GB

* HughesNet won’t let you buy a third-party modem to cut the equipment rental fee. As there aren’t modems or gateways that support satellite internet providers.

They do allow using any router. It’s handy if you want more features or to extend your home’s Wi-Fi signals.

Between 2:00 and 8:00 am, residential customers get an extra 50 GB of data added to their account monthly. Business customers get an additional 25 GB when using the internet between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.

Business internet plans work best for companies that have locations in remote areas. HughesNet’s low amount of data paired with sluggish speeds allows team members to check emails or access online documents.

HughesNet Home Phone Plans

HughesNet home and business voice over internet protocol (VoIP) packages are as follows:

Plan* Starting PriceBest For

International Unlimited (Add-on)$22.95/mo.Unlimited international calling

* Does not include taxes and other fees. These will vary by individual and billing region.

HughesNet business and home phone plans have the same plans and features.

Don’t believe me?

Look:

HughesNet business and home phone plans have the same plans and features.

All business and residential VoIP plans include these features:

  • Free equipment (worth $75)
  • $20 off plans the first 3 months
  • Unlimited calling to the United States & Canada
  • Requires 2-year contract
  • Features like:
    • Call forwarding
    • Caller ID
    • Call Waiting
    • Simultaneous ring
    • Call block
    • Enhanced voicemail: accessible through email

HughesNet uses voice over internet protocol (VoIP) technology. This means it routes calls through the internet. It’s an excellent way to have a backup phone system for your home.

You’ll pick a new phone number or port your existing one when getting Voice.

Instead of getting international plans, you must buy them as add-ons. Say you want unlimited international calling. You’ll pay $52.90 monthly.

International 200 allows you to call 60 countries for up to 200 minutes. Upgrade to International Unlimited and talk as much as you want.

But what countries can you call?

HughesNet unpublished the page that listed these countries, but here’s what I found from the web archives [2]:

Countries you can call with HughesNet

Since HughesNet unpublished the page, I doubt trusting the source. But that’s all we have to go on. Ask their sales department whether they support calling to the country you want to reach.
