Spectrum Availability & Coverage Map

Spectrum offers cable internet, TV, and landline service in many cities throughout 42 states. Explore this guide to find what states they support, coverage maps, and more.

I want to help you not waste time. Before realizing that Spectrum may not offer services in your area, I’ve compiled information to show where they support.

As you read, you’ll find availability for the following:

Let’s see if you’re wasting your time.

Because Spectrum offers services in these states doesn’t mean they’ll support every city and county. I will talk about this more later.

You’re stuck reading my nonsense for a few minutes before learning to see whether they support your city.

For now, let’s look at a map.

Spectrum Internet Availability Map

Here’s a map that illustrates Spectrum’s internet service availability:

Spectrum Internet Availability

This map illustrates their internet, landline (Spectrum Voice), and cable TV availability.

Now that you understand Spectrum’s internet availability, let’s see whether their internet services offer any value.

Spectrum Home Internet Packages, Pricing, & Features

Let’s check out Spectrum’s cable internet plans:

TierPromo. PriceMax. Speed (DL/UL)Best For
Internet$49.99/mo.300/10 MbpsGaming & video streaming
Internet Ultra$69.99/mo.500/20 MbpsRemote collaboration & price
Internet Gig$89.99/mo.1,000/35 MbpsLivestreaming, remote workers, & downloading large files frequently
Internet Assist$17.99/mo.30/4.0 MbpsLow-income households

Charter Spectrum internet services compared.

Here’s an overview of Spectrum’s internet:

  • No hard data cap
  • Contract-free
  • Access to over 500,000 wireless hotspots
  • 30-day money-back guarantee
  • Free antivirus suite
  • Access to Spectrum Mobile plans

You must pay $5.00 monthly to rent a Wi-Fi router. I recommend buying your own to save $60 a year. And there’s a $19.99 activation fee.

Otherwise, most of their internet plans’ features offer decent value. Except the antivirus. Research suggests that it doesn’t serve as a suitable replacement for Windows Defender.

And in my experience, Windows Defender and decent cybersecurity hygiene has kept me safe *knocks on wood*.

The Wi-Fi hotspots have varying internet speeds. I can’t tell you a definitive number. But they’re an excellent way to reduce contributions toward soft data caps. And they give you a means to study or stream video while away from home.

There’s no hard data cap. You won’t have to limit the amount of 4K UHD TV1 video your home watches.

Does Spectrum offer fiber internet?

Spectrum Fiber Internet Availability

All Spectrum’s residential internet plans are hybrid coaxial and fiber plans. In short, Spectrum doesn’t have specific fiber internet plans for homes.

But what’s hybrid coax/fiber?

They use fiber optic cables to quickly deliver internet signals for the last mile to your home. Then the coaxial cables will connect to your devices.

Spectrum offers 100% fiber internet (allegedly) to Enterprise customers in these areas [1, 2]:

If you’re still reading, let’s talk about Spectrum cable TV service.

Spectrum TV Packages, Pricing, & Features

Let’s see whether they offer any cable TV plans that offer meaningful value:

TierPromo. PricePost PromoChannelsBest For
TV Select$59.99/mo.$79.99/mo.125+Basic cable TV
MI Plan Latino$39.99/mo.$54.99/mo.145+Access to Spanish channels
Spectrum TV Select + Latino View$71.99/mo.NA200+More multi-lingual channel options
Charter Spectrum television packages.

Almost all Spectrum TV plans require you to rent a cable TV box. Or an Apple TV 4K. Both cost $9.99 monthly.

You could buy the latter for $180 upfront. Or pay the $9.99 rental fee for 18 months. I recommend my first option.

You’ll want the Apple TV 4K if you intend only to use the Spectrum TV app.

The TV app allows you to stream all your plan’s channels through any TV box, smartphone, or other supported device. I have a separate guide covering every supported device and required internet speeds.

It allows you to stream on unlimited devices (at home) simultaneously. And 2 devices at the same time while traveling.

If you intend on getting Spectrum Internet during your online transaction, you’ll have the option to add Spectrum TV Essentials. It includes 60 channels and costs $24.99 monthly.

This is the cheapest way to get TV services reliably for homes not needing many unpopular channels. And it doesn’t come with a ridiculous broadcast TV fee.

Since it’s technically not a cable TV plan. But it’s more so a livestreaming TV service.

Keyword “reliably.” Spectrum SUPPOSEDLY offers Choice and Basic TV packages. Both offer lower pricing than all plans.

I can’t find reliable information (for the most part) that suggests these plans exist. The information I found lies on their channel lineup and hidden fee pages.

Contact their customer service to see whether they offer these services in your area.

Otherwise, there’s not much else to talk about. It’s a television service. Let’s see whether their mobile service is cool.

Spectrum Mobile 4G LTE & 5G Coverage

Spectrum Mobile uses Verizon’s towers and offers coverage in these areas [3]:

United State Mobile Spectrum coverage

Dark blue represents 4G LTE coverage. Light blue represents 5G availability.

If I screenshotted the entire page, you’d likely have difficulty seeing the coverage thoroughly. Here’s a closer look at Spectrum Mobile coverage in Hawaii and Alaska:

Spectrum Hawaii Coverage
Spectrum Alaska coverage

Here’s the FTC’s map for Verizon’s 4G LTE voice coverage [4]:

Verizons 4G LTE

To be honest:

I don’t think you’ll see many differences among the maps. Cellular companies submit their advertised availability to the FTC (the mapmakers). So there’s likely a bias.

Either way. It’s good to compare both maps to get the most accurate representation of their coverage.

If you’re worried these maps aren’t accurate, take advantage of Spectrum’s 30-day money-back guarantee. And here’s the worst-case scenario.

You get Spectrum Mobile service, and it doesn’t have a signal during your daily commute. Cancel your service out of frustration. And don’t pay anything. Since it’s a contract-free plan.

Want to try their cellular service? Here’s an overview.

Spectrum Mobile Packages, Pricing, & Features

Here are all the mobile plans Spectrum offers:

Spectrum cellular plans compared.

Spectrum Mobile is only available to new and existing Spectrum broadband internet customers. It’s also a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). That means Spectrum doesn’t OWN its cellular service.

They borrow Verizon’s. With their towers, you’ll have the best 4G LTE coverage in the country. Especially in rural areas.

Spectrum Mobile doesn’t offer a million perks like Verizon, though. With an internet-only plan, you’ll get a Peacock Premium subscription free for 90 days. That’s it, though.

The chart above says there’s a soft data cap for each plan. You’ll have slower data speeds when you use “X” gigabytes (GB). Reduce your data allowance contribution by using Spectrum’s Wi-Fi hotspots.

Here’s my favorite part about Spectrum Mobile.

The trade-in bonuses. Trade in an old phone, and Spectrum will give you the phone’s trade-in value plus an extra $100–500. The bonus trade-in credits will depend on the phone model you’re putting your funds toward.

Contribute funds toward an iPhone 14, and you’ll get a $100 bonus credit. Getting the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 will give you a $500 bonus.

The phone’s trade-in value will depend on your phone’s condition, previous carrier, and other factors. I wrote a separate piece that covers this and other Spectrum Mobile deals

Wrapping Up

Spectrum offers its internet, TV, and landline services in many states, cities, and counties. But they don’t offer much fiber optic internet.

Since their MVNO mobile service uses Verizon’s towers, they have superior availability to competitors who don’t.
