Verizon Availability & Coverage Map

This guide will cover the availability of various Verizon services throughout the United States.

I spent hours digging through Verizon’s various availability pages. I grouped my findings into this piece and designed maps to illustrate Verizon’s availability.

Services that I’ll cover include:

Read on and learn more.

Verizon 5G and 4G LTE Availability

Verizon Wireless Nationwide 5G data is available in all states. And they only offer 5G Ultra Wideband in 33 states.

They can change supported availability at a moment’s notice. So double-check on their website whether they support your area before adding a line.

Verizon doesn’t support 5G Nationwide or Ultra Wideband access in unincorporated United States territories. Examples of such areas include Guam and Puerto Rico.

You can access Verizon services in these areas with the Verizon Wireless TravelPass.

Verizon 5G Features

Some features that you will find with Verizon Unlimited Wireless will include:

  • 5 GB to Unlimited access to premium data
  • 5–50 GB of premium mobile hotspot data
  • Up to 50% off Verizon Home Internet plans
  • * 5G Nationwide and 5G Ultra Wideband access
  • Up to $800 off new phones
  • Free Disney+, Google Play Pass, discovery+, and Apple Music for 6 months
  • Other freebies depending on your Unlimited plan
  • Unlimited talk and text
  • Unlimited talk to 200 overseas destinations [1]

* 5G Ultra Wideband supposedly gives you 10x faster speeds than 5G Nationwide

They’ll give you free streaming services, app services, and other cool freebies for a number of months. But they’ll charge you once this time passes. Explore a piece I wrote covering all Verizon’s ‘hidden’ fees.

It’ll cover everything.

‘Premium Data’ refers to a technical soft data cap. Once you surpass the cap, you’ll face throttled speeds [2]. If you use 5 GB of premium data, you’ll suffer from network congestion when it happens.

You can think of premium data as an express lane. (Un)premium data is a regular freeway lane.

So without premium data, you’ll find yourself in a network traffic jam during rush hour (peak usage times).

It’s a bit screwy. But if you don’t care much about mobile data and want cheaper home internet, I’d recommend going with the Unlimited Wireless plans anyway.

Like these features? Then check out the 5G plans.

These include:

Tier* Price5G Type
Welcome Unlimited$30/mo.Nationwide
5G Start$35/mo.Nationwide
5G Do More$45/mo.Ultra Wideband
5G Play More$45/mo.Ultra Wideband
5G Get More$55/mo.Ultra Wideband
5 GB Prepaid$25–$35/mo.Nationwide
15 GB Prepaid$35–$45/mo.Nationwide
Unlimited Prepaid$50–$60/mo.Nationwide
Unlimited Plus Prepaid$60–$75/mo.Nationwide
Verizon Unlimited cell phone plans.

* These prices already include the Auto Pay discount. They don’t include taxes and other fees.

To avoid contracts or credit score checks, you could go with the Prepaid cellular data plans. You’ll pay the same (sometimes a bit more) than postpaid plans unless you pay over 3 months.

Prepaying 4–9 months can save you $5 monthly. And paying over 10 monthly saves 10 a month.

But:

You won’t get the discounted Home Internet. So you’ll need to weigh the pros and cons of each mobile plan.

Verizon Fios Internet Availability

Verizon Fios Home Internet and prepaid internet plans are available in the following states and cities:

  • Washington DC
  • Virginia
    • Richmond
    • Norfolk
  • Rhode Island
    • Providence
  • Pennsylvania
    • Pittsburgh
    • Philadelphia
    • Harrisburg
  • Massachusetts
    • Boston
  • Delaware
  • New York
    • New York City
    • Buffalo
    • Albany
    • Staten Island
    • Syracuse
    • Plattsburgh
  • Maryland
    • Baltimore
  • New Jersey

Not available in most areas.

But if it’s available in your area, it offers more benefits compared to other internet service providers. I’ll cover these in a bit.

Verizon Fios Internet Availability Map

Here’s a map of Fios internet availability to make your life a bit easier:

Verizon Fios availability
Let’s determine whether you should get these plans.

Verizon Fios Internet Features

Verizon Fios Home Internet features you’ll find include:

  • 100% fiber optic internet
  • 300–940 Mbps download (300–800 Mbps upload speeds)
  • Price guarantee
  • Contract-free
  • No data overages
  • Month of free professional home security monitoring
  • Coupon for Verizon Sound Bars

And you can get these Home Internet plans with Verizon Fios:

Fios Plan* Speed (Download/Upload)** Price
300/300300/300 Mbps$49.99/mo.
500/500500/500 Mbps$69.99/mo.
Fios Gigabit Connection940/800 Mbps$89.99/mo.
Fios Prepaid 100 Mbps100/100 Mbps$39.99/mo.
Fios Prepaid 300 Mbps300/300 Mbps$59.99/mo.
Prepaid Gigabit Connection940/800 Mbps$79.99/mo.
Verizon Fios internet plans.

* These speeds may not reflect internet speeds you’ll see in your home. They may change under various circumstances.

** These prices do not include taxes or other fees. They already include Verizon’s Auto Pay discount.

Each plan has varying discounts for the soundbars and other perks. You’ll need to check out each package’s review to learn more.

Many internet providers don’t have symmetric internet speeds (I’m looking at you Xfinity). This means upload and download speeds aren’t the same. Like 100 Mbps download and upload speeds.

All of Verizon’s plans (except Gigabit Connect) have symmetric speeds. I cover each internet plan in-depth in a separate piece. So if it’s available in your area, I recommend reviewing each plan.

And Prepaid internet.

It’s useful if you’re living in a rental or don’t want to undergo a credit check. Because Verizon runs credit checks for new customers. If they don’t have the best credit history, the ISP will charge them a security deposit.

Verizon Fios TV Availability

You’ll find Verizon Fios TV plans available in these areas:

  • Washington DC
  • Virginia
    • Richmond
    • Norfolk
  • Rhode Island
    • Providence
  • Pennsylvania
    • Pittsburgh
    • Philadelphia
    • Harrisburg
  • Massachusetts
    • Boston
  • Delaware
  • New York
    • New York City
    • Buffalo
    • Albany
    • Staten Island
    • Syracuse
    • Plattsburgh
  • Maryland
    • Baltimore
  • New Jersey

It’s available in the same areas as fiber Home Internet.

And here’s a map of where it’s available:

Verizon TV availability

Not available in many areas. But if you’re in these areas, you may want to choose Fios TV over competitors because of the value they offer.

If you don’t believe me, check out the features and plans.

Verizon Fios TV Features

Here are the features for Verizon Fios television plans:

  • 125-425+ channels
  • 2-months free My Fios streaming service app subscription
  • DVR (separate fees)
  • Premium channels
  • Spanish TV packages
  • International channels
  • Sports packages
  • Fiber optic television service

And here are some Verizon Fios television packages:

TierPriceNumber of ChannelsPrice Per Channel
* Fios TV Test Drive$70/mo.425+NA
Your Fios TV$70/mo.125+$0.56
More Fios TV$90/mo.300+$0.30
The Most Fios TV$110/mo.425+$0.25
Mundo Total TV$110/mo.225+$0.48
Mundo TV$90/mo.210+$0.42
Verizon Fios television plans.

* This plan only lasts 60 days. Once this time passes, Verizon will ‘recommend’ a new plan.

Mundo TV and Total both act as Verizon’s Spanish entertainment television packages.

I’ve never thought Verizon offered television services for the longest time, but here we are. And they’re not a cable TV provider. They use fiber to deliver television to your home.

Because of this, you’ll have more consistent uptime versus cable or satellite TV. That means you won’t have to worry about rain interfering with a satellite dish. Or cable suffering from electromagnetic interference.

Since it uses fiber optic, you can bundle Fios TV with home phone and internet services. But unlike other providers, you won’t save money by bundling Fios services.

However:

If you’re paying for television services, you want to watch it without frequent interruptions. So Fios TV works as a perfect tool to have consistent entertainment uptime.

Verizon Fios Home Phone Availability

Verizon Fios landline home phone services are available in 9 states that include:

  • Washington DC
  • Virginia
    • Richmond
    • Norfolk
  • Rhode Island
    • Providence
  • Pennsylvania
    • Pittsburgh
    • Philadelphia
    • Harrisburg
  • Massachusetts
    • Boston
  • Delaware
  • New York
    • New York City
    • Buffalo
    • Albany
    • Staten Island
    • Syracuse
    • Plattsburgh
  • Maryland
    • Baltimore
  • New Jersey

Verizon doesn’t promote home phones much on their website. It’s mainly an add-on for Fios TV. But let’s determine whether it’s worth adding to your home.

Verizon Fios Home Phone Features

Here are some features you’ll find with Verizon’s ‘landline’ service:

  • Free international calling to most of the world
  • Caller ID
  • Transfers phone numbers
  • Spam alerts and blocking
  • Outgoing caller ID block
  • Call forwarding

Fios home phone combines fiber optic networks with traditional landline and cordless phones. And it uses a Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP)-based network connection to dial numbers domestically and overseas.

That means it uses broadband internet to make calls instead of traditional phone lines. That means you’ll have clearer calls and less interference.

Their domestic calls DO include unincorporated U.S. territories like Puerto Rico.

This plan only has one plan that costs $25 monthly. You can add this service as an add-on to Verizon Fios TV plans. But it won’t give you a discount.

If you want to dial overseas landline and mobile numbers, you’ll need to pay extra monthly.

Verizon LTE Home Internet Availability

Verizon offers 4G LTE Home Internet to over 189 markets in every state.

Keep in mind that Verizon doesn’t offer coverage in all cities. They do specify LTE Home Internet is available in all areas that support their LTE networks.

And instead of relying on Verizon’s availability map, I checked the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) map [3]. So before ordering to your area relying on Verizon’s 4G LTE map, compare it to the FCC’s.

Verizon LTE Home Internet Features

You’ll find these features with Verizon LTE Home Internet:

  • No contracts
  • No bandwidth cap
  • 2-year price guarantee
  • Download speeds 25–50 Mbps
  • Upload speeds of 4 Mbps

You’ll only find one plan with LTE Home Internet from Verizon. It gives you 25–50/4 Mbps (download/upload) speeds for $50 monthly.

You’ll only want this plan if you’re in areas that don’t support 5G or Fios Home Internet plans. That means you’ll want this plan if you’re in a rural area. And you should check whether other cable broadband internet service providers offer better deals.

Verizon 5G Home Internet Availability

Verizon offers 5G Home Internet in at least 33 states.

The states that Verizon 5G Home Internet supports include:

WashingtonOregonCaliforniaNevada
IdahoUtahArizonaNew Mexico
ColoradoTexasOklahomaNebraska
LouisianaArkansasMissouriIowa
MinnesotaWisconsinIllinoisMichigan
IndianaKentuckyTennesseeAlabama

OhioNorth CarolinaSouth CarolinaMaryland
Florida
States that have Verizon 5G Home Internet.

And here’s a map of where you can access 5G Home Internet:

Verizon 5G Home Internet availability

Verizon 5G Home Internet Features

When subscribing to Verizon 5G Home Internet, you’ll get:

  • 85–300 Mbps download speeds
  • 10 Mbps upload speeds
  • 2–3-year price guarantee
  • No annual contract
  • No data cap or overage charges
  • 4G LTE backup data with download speeds up to 70 Mbps

Here are the 5G Home Internet plans you can get:

Plan* Speeds (Download/Upload)
5G Home85–300/10 Mbps
5G Home Plus300–1000/50 Mbps
Verizon 5G Home Internet plans.

You’ll want this plan if you want Verizon home internet, but can’t get Fios.

It has great download speeds, but doesn’t offer the best upload speeds. So I don’t recommend it for homes who upload massive files daily.

How Do I Order Verizon?

You can order Verizon Fios services online or in Verizon Fios stores. And you can order Verizon Wireless cell phone plans online or at a Verizon store.

Ordering online will waive the $99 activation fee. So you’ll want to take this route.

To order Verizon in a store, walk into a store and tell them you want to use Verizon.

Ordering online requires you to simply select the service and add-ons you want, create an account, and order your stuff. You can either have Verizon ship its equipment to you. Or you can pick it up in-store.

They also give you several ways to pick up your equipment in a store that include:

  • Curbside Pickup: park in a Curbside Pickup area and wait for Verizon staff to bring you your devices
  • Locker Pickup: pick up your stuff at a self-serve locker
  • Doorside pickup: wait outside a Verizon store and a team member will bring you the equipment
  • In-store pickup: wait inside a cramped store for Verizon staff to hand you your equipment

Or you can have them ship your equipment. These prices and methods include:

Shipping MethodCostOrder By
2-Day ShippingFree8 PM (ET)
Standard Overnight$12.9910 PM (ET)
Priority Overnight$14.9910 PM (ET)
2-Day (For Accessories)Free (only for orders over $49)8 PM (ET)
3-5 Days (For Accessories)Free4 PM (local time)
2-Day (For Accessories)$6.99 (orders under $49)4 PM (local time)
Verizon shipping fees.

Verizon will charge you $2 for each additional accessory they add to your order.

Someone will have to sign for the package if your order exceeds $75. And the postal staff will make 3 attempts to deliver your equipment and accessories. After those attempts, Verizon will cancel your package.

They won’t let you use a PO box as a shipping address. But they’ll let you use it as a billing address.

And to track your order, you’ll want to visit their Orders page.

How Do I Contact Verizon Customer Service?

You can reach Verizon customer service through these methods:

  • Call 800-922-0204: available 24/7
  • Call specialists at 877-596-7577 (for business customers): available Monday-Friday, 8:30 am–5 pm Eastern Time (ET)
  • Use their live chat room
  • Contact them on Facebook Messenger
  • Dial ‘*611’ on your phone: if you use Verizon mobile plans

When calling, continually tell the automated system that you want to speak to an agent.
