Verizon Business Pros and Cons

Pros and cons of Verizon Business products include:

Pros:

  • Fios will give you a 100% fiber-optic connection
  • More availability in rural areas for Verizon 5G and 4G services
  • Large selection of cellular and business internet plans
  • A+ Better Business Bureau (BBB) rating [1]
  • 30-day money-back guarantee: when on a term-agreement
  • Best for small (1–20 employees) or medium (21–499 employees) sized business

Cons:

  • Limited availability for fiber internet
  • A bit expensive
  • 1.13 customer service rating from the BBB

No prices throughout this guide will include taxes or other fees. I wrote a piece covering some of Verizon’s hidden fees that you may want to explore. Many of these plans also include the Auto Pay discount.

I’ll cover this discount in a bit.

All plans with a 2-year term agreement will have an early termination fee. You’ll need to pay 35% of your base monthly unexpired terms when canceling early.

Verizon Business Internet Plans and Pricing

Verizon offers these types of business internet plans that include:

  • Fiber optic
  • 5G
  • 4G LTE

Each offers different perks, which I’ll cover throughout the following sections.

Verizon Fios Business Internet

Here are plans you’ll find with Verizon Business Fios internet:

BundlePriceInternet Speed
Fios 100 Mbps$69/mo.100/100 Mbps
Fios 200 Mbps$79.99/mo.200/200 Mbps
Fios 300 Mbps$99/mo.300/300 Mbps
Fios 400 Mbps$99/mo.400/400 Mbps
Fios 940/800 Mbps$249/mo.940/800 Mbps

Verizon Fios business internet plans.

Small and medium businesses will benefit the most from these plans. Because they provide more stability than cable internet. Since they use fiber optic cables.

What makes fiber optic connections unique?

It supports high bandwidth levels and is immune to electromagnetic interference (EMI). The former means that fiber travels faster for longer distances without interruptions. These shorter distances result in quicker download and upload times.

Electromagnetic inductions or other outside electrical noise can cause EMI [2]. These interruptions lead to crosstalk that causes interruptions in internet connections. Fiber cables don’t produce these signals.

These cables are also immune to outside electrical noise.

No matter the Fios business plan you choose, Verizon will give you a $1,500 credit to buy you out of your current internet plan.

And you get a 2-year price guarantee. That means Verizon won’t suddenly change the price of their plans on you.

Almost all plans have synonymous internet speeds. That means equal download and upload speeds. The only difference is with the 940/800 Mbps plan.

Regardless:

800 Mbps can still support many online tasks. For starters, you can upload a 1 terabyte (TB) folder in 3 hours if no one else occupies bandwidth.

5G Business Internet Plans & Pricing

Verizon’s 5G business internet plan works best for providing high speed internet to small and medium businesses that can’t access business Fios. 5G internet plans they offer include:

PlanPricing
100 Mbps$69/mo.
200 Mbps$99/mo.
400 Mbps$199/mo.

Verizon 5G internet plans.

This internet works great as a primary and backup internet source for anyone who requires higher-bandwidth tasks. Like downloading files.

I can’t say the same for upload speeds. Since Verizon has no information on this.

New Verizon Business customers can save $80 a month when pairing Verizon 5G with a Verizon Unlimited mobile plan. You must have at least one line with the Business Unlimited Pro 2.0 plan.

And you can get the first month of the 200 and 400 Mbps plans for free.

Verizon doesn’t specify the upload speeds for business internet. They only have a vague statement stating, “you may see lower upload or equal upload speed.”

Here’s my favorite part of this plan:

You get a 10-year price guarantee without contracts. That means no early termination fees, and you don’t have to worry about price fluctuations.

Verizon LTE Business Internet

Verizon’s 4G LTE works best for rural work sites, mobile sites, and branch offices. Pricing and speeds for these plans include the following:

PlanPricingPremium Network Access Data
(Up to) 10 Mbps$69/mo.25 GB
(Up to) 25 Mbps$99/mo.50 GB
(Up to) 50 Mbps$199/mo.150 GB

Verizon LTE business internet plans.

The 25 Mbps plan gives you a 2-year price guarantee and one month of service free. The 50 Mbps plan has a 3-year. And the 10 Mbps plan gives you a 1-year guarantee.

All plans come with a 300 GB data cap. Once you surpass this data, you’ll have to pay $10 per 5 GB of data Verizon adds to your account. This data allowance doesn’t give you much leeway.

You could watch over 360 hours of content with that bandwidth cap.

You can also use LTE internet in a home office in a rural area. Or as a backup internet. I recommend the latter if you’re in an area with 5G or fiber internet.

Otherwise, you’ll have sluggish internet speeds.

Speaking of:

Verizon doesn’t specify the upload speeds for these plans. They only say, “upload speeds may be the same or lower than the download speed.”

And you could see lower speeds if you surpass the premium network access cap. Because once you pass this cap, you’ll see congested internet speeds when many people use Verizon simultaneously.

Like during rush hour.

Verizon Business Mobile Plans and Pricing

Verizon Business mobile plans have some of the widest availability among other mobile providers. Packages for the business cellular plans include:

Tier* Pricing (5+ Lines)Pricing (4 Lines)Pricing (3 Lines)Pricing (2 Lines)Pricing (1 Line)

Business Unlimited Pro 2.0$225+/mo. ($45 per line)$240/mo. ($60 per line)$210/mo. ($70 per line)$160/mo. ($80 per line)$95/mo. per line

Verizon Business mobile service plans.

All plans come with 5G Nationwide or 4G LTE, unlimited Mobile Hotspot data, and limitless talk and text.

And there’s a spam blocker filter.

The Unlimited Plus and Pro come with the following:

  • Ultra Wideband: 10x faster internet speeds than 5G Nationwide
  • Business Mobile Secure: notifies you when connecting to unsecured Wi-Fi and offers Tech Support

Unlimited Pro gives you unlimited Premium Network Access. Meanwhile, Plus gives you 100 GB of this data type.

Premium Network Access data gives you congestion-free data. When in an area with many people, you won’t experience throttled data speeds.

Verizon gives businesses a nice tool to make account management easier. The My Verizon For Business app.

You can download the My Verizon For Business mobile app to do the following:

  • Upgrade or purchase accessories and equipment
  • Keep track of your mobile data usage

Verizon Business vs. The Competitors

I’ll compare Verizon’s business products to that of the following competitors:

  • Comcast
  • AT&T
  • T-Mobile

The sections will detail which companies win what categories.

Verizon Business vs. Comcast Business

Comcast Internet wins at providing the fastest business internet (10 Gbps), has backup 4G LTE internet, and has broader availability throughout the U.S.

But Comcast Business doesn’t have a mobile service.

So if you need a cellular plan for your employees, Verizon wins. And despite my unpleasant experience with Verizon’s customer service, it still beats Comcast’s customer service.

For context, based on my experience, Verizon’s customer service ignored my questions. No matter how thorough I was with my questions.

But everyone’s experiences will vary. You may find pleasant Verizon customer service agents who can help you with any issue.

Verizon Business vs. AT&T Business

AT&T business fiber has more availability than Verizon Fios and offers much higher speeds with their 2 Gig and 5 Gig plans. Moreover, AT&T charges less for their internet plans.

Both providers offer symmetric internet speeds. But one of them doesn’t offer fiber optic TV services.

That’s AT&T. If you want business TV, internet, and voice, you’re best off getting Verizon to simplify your billing.

Regarding mobile plans, Verizon has more 4G coverage and higher mid-band 5G speeds. So it works better for businesses in remote work sites.

But AT&T business mobile plans charge a bit less per line.

Verizon Business vs. T-Mobile Business

T-Mobile’s cellular business plans cost less per line (6+ lines) and have faster speeds [4]. Once their partnership with Starlink goes through, they’ll have more coverage in rural areas.

But Verizon allows you to bundle 5G in-business internet and their mobile plans.

Moreover, Verizon offers business fiber optic internet, TV, and landline plans.

While Verizon doesn’t provide the best mobile service, they surpass T-Mobile in every other business service category.
