Xfinity Gigabit X2 is a 2,000 Mbps (download) and 200 Mbps (upload) speed internet plan available to certain cities. This plan works best for homes with multiple online video content creators.
Or for anyone who manages home servers and frequently backs up their data.
It uses a cable/hybrid connection to deliver services. Meaning it’s not a 100% fiber internet plan. Hence, the 200 Mbps upload speeds.

Xfinity Gigabit X2 is a new plan available in a few cities. Comcast may need more time to catch it up to other packages (regarding features).
Or they’re just trying to sell you on the fact it’s an internet plan with 2,000 Mbps download speeds.
You don’t get a cheaper Xfinity Mobile plan with Gigabit X2, unlike with their other home internet plans. But you still get the Flex 4K TV streaming box.
If you’re streaming 4K UHD TV1 video, you’ll need to know whether you’re falling into a trap.
Does Xfinity still enforce its data cap on the 2,000 Mbps internet plan?
Xfinity 2.0 Gbps Data Cap
Xfinity has a 1.2 terabyte (TB) data cap on their Gigabit X2 plan. Once you surpass this data cap, you must pay $10 per additional 50 GB you use.
Bypass these data caps by paying more money. Would it take much effort to pass these caps?
It depends. If your household streams a little over 200 hours of 4K online video, you’ll pass that data allowance fast.
Pay $25 monthly for their xFi Complete Gateway, a modem/router combination device. Or pay $30 a month for the unlimited data add-on.
The data cap makes it difficult for me to recommend this plan.
What Can You Do With 2,000 Mbps Speeds?
2,000 Mbps internet speeds are more than enough to deal with the most demanding online tasks. Whether it’s cloud gaming in 8K UHD TV2 resolution, downloading/uploading massive files, or streaming 8K videos.

Online activities you can do with 2.0 Gbps download speed and 200 Mbps upload speed.
A bit of a ridiculous example, but I think you see my point. Here’s an actual scenario where 2,000 Mbps download speeds would prove useful.
Some of the most bandwidth-devouring videos require 71–200 Mbps downstream bandwidth [1 PDF link]. 10 devices could simultaneously stream the 200 Mbps 8K videos.
The more practical use cases for the 2.0 Gbps plan come from managing home servers. Or having a house full of content creators. Both scenarios will require massive amounts of speed.
Home server owners may want to back up their home servers frequently. Thus, they’ll need internet speeds that won’t bottleneck the rest of their household’s online activities.
Houses with multiple online content creators mean multiple people must frequently send video footage to editors.
Say you want to send a 46 GB hour-long 4K video to an editor, but don’t want to interrupt a roommate’s livestreaming session.
It’ll take 30 minutes to send that file. And with plenty of available bandwidth, streamers should see minimal interruptions.
Other than the above situations, 2.0 gigabytes internet speed is overkill. And only necessary if you have disposable income and are sick of download speeds from your 1.0 Gbps internet.
I don’t want to discuss the 200 Mbps upload speeds too much. It makes uploading files take a bit longer. Allegedly, Comcast intends to enable multi-gig upload speeds in 2023 [2].

However, sources suggest the “Now with up to 2x faster upload speeds included” doesn’t apply to Gigabit X2.

Xfinity 2,000 Mbps Internet Price & Hidden Fees
The Xfinity 2.0 gig plan costs $130 a month. When adding the Paperless & Autopay discounts, you’ll bring your total to $120 monthly.
These prices don’t include taxes and other fees. What are the other fees?
From what I’ve seen, they charge $99.99 for a professional installation fee:

Comcast claims 34 markets will have access to this plan by the end of 2022 [4].
Though Xfinity offers 2.0 Gbps internet in these cities, it doesn’t mean it’s guaranteed to work at your ZIP code.
Try using the FCC’s broadband map as a reference. I adjusted the settings for you to search for areas with Comcast and that support 2,000 Mbps speeds. Again, use this source as a benchmark.

Xfinity Gigabit X2 doesn’t require a contract. Thus, you don’t have to worry about cancellation fees.

Many of the above plans offer new customer pricing, $20–30 off Xfinity Mobile each month, a free xFi Complete for 2 years. That’ll save you $600 and bypass the data cap.
If you get this freebie with the Gigabit plan, you’ll get 1,200/200 Mbps speeds. The same upload speeds as Gigabit X2, but costs less. And doesn’t have a bandwidth allowance.
Until Xfinity offers a similar bonus with their 2,000 Mbps plan, I recommend going with one of their other plans instead. You’ll get much more value.

AT&T has the highest speeds while technically charging the least per megabit (upload-wise). However, it’s only available in 23 states. And you’ll need to pay $100 to set up your fiber.
Only a penny more expensive than Xfinity’s professional installation fee.
Google Fiber doesn’t charge an installation fee, though. But it’s available in 23 cities. You’d need to check their availability at fiber.google.com.
Google’s internet service also includes a free router and a terabyte of free cloud storage. Since I frequently use Google Drive, that’s a godsend. They also charge the least for 2,000 Mbps download speeds.
Verizon Fios technically has the fastest 2.0 GB average speeds. But they’re quiet about this plan. It’s not listed on their Fios landing page. I had to find information elsewhere [6].
But they charge a lot and are only available in a handful of cities.
Frontier Fiber has the highest price, but more availability than many fiber providers. And they have symmetric speeds.
I wish I could declare a winner. But each provider has scattered availability.

So long as you get the xFi Complete. Otherwise, you’ll burn through your data allowance fast.
