Spectrum TV & Internet Deals for Existing Customers in 2024

Charter Spectrum doesn’t offer deals on its services and products for existing customers. Read this guide. You’ll find ways you can save money on Spectrum plans.

I want to help existing Spectrum customers save the most money possible with service providers. That led me onto a journey to find every available deal that the company offers.

You’ll find the following while reading through this guide:

Let’s go. We have much to cover.

Does Spectrum Offer Deals for Existing Customers?

Spectrum has no deals on their internet, voice, or TV services for existing customers. However, existing customers adding an Apple Watch to their Mobile line can get a free data smartwatch plan for 3 months.

And they don’t have to pay activation fees for adding these watches.

My previous comment doesn’t mean you can’t save money with Spectrum. The following sections will cover all other discounts, promotions, and deals Spectrum offers.

Free Peacock Premium Subscription

All existing Spectrum customers can get a free Peacock Premium subscription. Broadband internet customers get 90 days free. And cable TV users get a free subscription for 12 months.

Do you have a Peacock account already? Log in here to claim your freebie. And if you don’t have one, you can create an account for free.

Internet customers will save about $15. And TV users will save around $59. Once the promotion ends, you can pay $4.99 monthly to keep your account.

It’s an excellent value. No broadband TV fee. You’ll have 50 live(ish) channels. And you can get over 80,000 hours of content for free.

Decent shows and movies you’ll find include Parks and Recreation, WWE, and every Harry Potter movie.

You’ll need compatible devices and internet speed to use Peacock’s app, though. I covered the devices in a separate app. You’ll also need at least 8.0 Mbps download speeds to stream 1080p FHD content [1].

Low-income Internet Plan + Affordable Connectivity Program

Spectrum’s low-income internet plan costs $17.99 monthly and provides 30/4.0 Mbps (down/up). It comes with a free modem and no contract. But it has requirements.

To use this plan, you must prove you participate in at least one of these government benefits programs:

  • National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
  • Community Eligibility Provision (CEP)
  • Supplemental Security Income

Do you meet one of these qualifications?

Visit the Internet Assist landing page and sign up. You’ll need to enter some information and upload the documents that prove you’re in one of the above programs.

You still have to rent a wireless router. So long as you want Wi-Fi. That’ll cost $5.00 monthly. Unless you buy your own.

I’ll cover the benefits of buying your own router later.

Anyway:

Spectrum also participates in the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). It’s a government benefits program that gives anyone who qualifies a $30 recurring internet credit.

If you live on tribal lands, you can get a $75 monthly credit.

The government’s more lenient on who can use this program. For instance, if someone in your home’s income falls 200% under the Federal Poverty Guidelines, you can qualify [2].

Before I move on, here’s a glance at the guidelines [3]:

Spectrum Low income guidelines

Any existing Spectrum customer can use the ACP credit. Visit affordableconnectivity.gov and start your application.

From there, you’ll need to wait a bit to see whether you’re approved. Then wait for Spectrum to apply the discount.

Spectrum Phone Deals

New and existing Spectrum Mobile customers can trade in old devices and receive the phone’s value plus an additional $100. So long as you buy a phone from Spectrum.

They offer many devices like the iPhone 14, Samsung Galaxy S22, and the infamous Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4.

Speaking of the Fold4. You can get a $500 trade-in bonus when getting this device. You could also get $200 or $300 toward another phone. Depending on what hardware you buy.

You can also get $250 off the Google Pixel 6a. It’s only $199.99 instead of $449.99.

I cover the phones that receive each bonus, in addition to every phone Spectrum Mobile offers, in a separate guide.

Let’s talk about trade-in value.

Spectrum Mobile will determine your device’s value based on these factors:

  • Make
  • Model
  • Carrier
  • Condition

They won’t accept devices that won’t power on, have visible battery damage, and liquid beneath your screen [4].

Let’s talk about the best broadband internet plans.

Spectrum Bundles for Existing Customers: Is It Worth It?

Spectrum doesn’t provide any discounts when bundling their services.

Existing customers won’t find any benefit to bundling their services. Other than compiling all your services under a single platform.

If you’ve stumbled upon Spectrum One, their mobile, Wi-Fi, and internet-only bundle, heed this warning.

Spectrum Bundle fine print

Anyone who’s had Spectrum services within the previous 30 days can’t use the bundle.

Since you won’t have luck finding savings in bundling, let’s explore other ways to lower your bill.

How To Lower Your Spectrum Bill as an Existing Customer

The following sections will cover ways you can save money on your Spectrum TV, mobile, internet, or voice plans as an existing customer.

I’ll cover the amount you’ll save, how to follow these tips, and other relevant information.

#1 Buy Your Own Router

Purchase a third-party wireless router and use it with your Spectrum internet-only plan. You’ll save $60 a year.

You can carry these savings into other internet providers. So long as they don’t charge you to use your own devices.

All internet providers I’ve reviewed (so far) don’t charge such a fee.

When buying a router, you have 2 options:

  1. Research it yourself
  2. Check out our router recommendations

If you go with the first option, you’ll need to consider several factors when shopping for a router:

  • Ensure it meets your plan’s max. Wi-Fi speeds: e.g., at least 300 Mbps maximum Wi-Fi speeds if you’re using the Spectrum internet plan
  • Features: only get routers with features you’d utilize
  • 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) vs. 802.11ac (Wi-Fi 5): choose the former if you have extra money and want more stable connections
  • Homes larger than 3,000 square feet: you’ll want to consider mesh Wi-Fi routers

Depending on the router you get, it may take you a year or 2 before you see savings.

Want to know how to save money on routers?

Pay attention to sales. For instance, Prime Day, Black Friday, or Cyber Monday. Or consider looking for routers at garage sales.

A relative found a NICE router at a yard sale several years ago.

#2 Negotiate To Lower Your Rates

Follow these steps in an attempt to get your promotional rate with Spectrum again:

  1. Research ISPs that service your area
  2. Call 833-267-6094 and ask to speak to someone in the retention department
  3. Upon reaching someone, tell them the following:
    1. Your post-promotional price plan is out of your budget
    2. You may consider switching to “X” internet provider because of lower pricing
    3. You’re considering canceling your Spectrum service
  4. Wait and see whether they offer promotions

If they call your bluff and proceed to cancel your plan, mention that you’ll need to consider what provider to go with based on Spectrum’s answer. Then call back another day.

You may reach someone more willing to give you discounts.

Ensure you’re friendly throughout the call, even if you’re dealing with slow and/or rude customer service. The retention department agent may match your friendliness with a promotion they can apply to your plan.

It’s not guaranteed, though.

#3 Take Advantage of the Spectrum TV App

You can use the Spectrum TV app on smart devices (like Apple TV), smartphones, or computers instead of buying a cable TV box.

This will save you $9.99 monthly if you buy more than 1 box. However, you’ll still have to pay for the broadband TV fee. The amount you’ll pay depends on your location.

Since the Spectrum TV app can stream simultaneously on an unlimited number of devices at home, you’ll have no limits. Compared to other internet service providers. Who only allows for 3 simultaneous streams.

However, you can only stream simultaneously with Spectrum’s app on 2 devices while away from home.

Spectrum doesn’t specify the internet speeds you’ll need to stream content through their app. Based on past articles, I’ve seen them write general recommendations, aim for at least 8.0 Mbps downstream bandwidth available per device.

Unless your home has multiple security cameras running all day, or if you have people watching 4K content in another room, you should have more than enough bandwidth.

Spectrum Internet Plans Packages for Existing Customers

Here are Spectrum internet plans that existing customers can get:

TierPrice (Pre Promo.)Price (Post Promo.)Speed (Down/Up)Best For
Internet$49.99/mo.$74.99/mo.300/10 MbpsMost households
Internet Ultra$69.99/mo.$94.99/mo.500/20 MbpsStreaming 4K on 20 devices
Internet Gig$89.99/mo.$114.99/mo.1,000/35 MbpsFrequent file downloaders
Charter Spectrum cable internet plans.

As a current Spectrum customer, you may want to switch to a better plan that gives you more value. Review your household’s internet usage if you’re using Ultra or Gig.

Does everyone actually need an accumulated 500 or 1,000 Mbps?

If you don’t need those speeds, downgrade. Because you’re likely paying for speeds you’re not using.

If you’re an existing Spectrum TV customer and have never used internet-only plans, compare it to your current provider and consider switching.

Because you’ll get features like:

  • No hard data cap
  • Free modem rental
  • Contract-free

You must pay $5.00 monthly to rent Spectrum’s routers. To avoid this fee, you’ll need to get your own router. Follow that advice if you switch internet service providers.

So long as you’re an existing Spectrum internet-only user, you’ll also have access to Spectrum Mobile. According to Spectrum, you can save up to 60% on your wireless bill by switching to their By-The-Gig or Unlimited plans.

“60% savings” is up to interpretation. If you’re switching from Mint Mobile to Spectrum Mobile, you’re not saving 60%.

Though their plans don’t cost much. I emphasize each plans’ features and hidden pricing in a separate guide. But Unlimited plans cost $29.99/mo. per line. Meanwhile, By-The-Gig is $14.99 monthly.

Spectrum Mobile uses Verizon towers. So you don’t need to sacrifice less coverage for affordability.

The soft data caps are the only factor you’ll need to consider with Spectrum Mobile. After you use 5 GB, 20 GB, or 30 GB (depending on your plan), you’ll have slower data speeds.

Based on my experience, using Wi-Fi hotspots can significantly reduce the amount of data you contribute to your data cap.

Spectrum TV Packages for Existing Customers

Existing Spectrum customers can try these TV plans:

Spectrum TV SELECT + LATINO VIEW$71.99/mo.NA200+More multi-lingual channel options
Charter Spectrum cable TV plans.

If you’re an existing Spectrum internet-only user, why would you want to add Spectrum’s cable TV to your bill?

In many scenarios, you won’t want to.

When trying to save money, but want to access some main channels (like CNN or Fox), you’re better off going with TV streaming services like YouTube TV or Hulu + Live TV.

Because both services don’t have broadband TV fees, don’t require TV boxes, and won’t require a separate DVR plan.

But:

The Spectrum TV app adds significant value to Spectrum’s cable television service. You can watch all your channels on unlimited devices while at home. And they support a lot of modern devices.

Plus, you’ll have access to more channel packages and a larger channel lineup than streaming TV services. Here’s an example.

YouTube TV requires a separate add-on subscription for Spanish channels. Spectrum’s Mi Plan Latino has an enormous selection of Spanish-language channels and doesn’t require an add-on.
